Honeymoon on a Budget
With people scrimping and saving for a wedding, sometimes a honeymoon is out of the question. Here are some tips on how to still have fun without adding the burden of debt.
1) Do not consider a honeymoon registry. I don’t care what anyone says, that is tacky. I don’t care if people would give you money anyway- that is tacky. I don’t care how cute and trendy it is- that is tacky.
2) Think short and sweet. You don’t have to go on a week long vacation. Two nights may not be the most exciting length of stay, but you can make it memorable.
3) Stay close to home. In order to cut out airfare, consider taking a romantic trip that is in driving distance. You don’t have to stay in your backyard- an hour to 3 hours away can be romantic.
4)Ask for specials. Even if there are no deals listed in a brochure or on a website, call and ask.
5) Wait until you have the money. If all else fails, save up for a year and take a honeymoon on your first anniversary. It may not be traditional but few things I suggest are.
