Hitched or Ditched
Hitched or Ditched is the CW’s new reality show.
The premise is that couples have one week to decide if they will get married, or break up. Of course, these couples have been in long term relationships so it would make sense for them to either get married, or break up, depending on your views of marriage.
I happened to catch an episode last night with Travis and CeLisa. I didn’t think it was going to hold my attention as I get so sick of these cheesy reality shows. But I do like shows focused on relationships.
Here’s the rundown of the episode that came on last night. Don’t read it if you don’t like spoilers.
The couple, Travis and CeLisa had been together for 4 years. They argue all of the time and hurt each other. Neither of their families thought that they should be together but for some reason they stuck it out. Travis’ mother mentioned that CeLisa had mood swings. This was very evident by the end of the show as she would go from nice to angry in about 2 seconds flat.
So Hitched or Ditched gave Travis and CeLisa an invitation to their wedding where they were to decide whether or not to get married. This wedding would take place in a week.
It seemed that CeLisa was very excited because she would get to pick out everything she ever wanted in a wedding. Travis didn’t seem to excited, but as the show went on that seemed to change. That is until CeLisa went out the night before the wedding and was acting very inappropriately. She was drinking, flirting, ooogling guys with their shirts off.
Then Travis arrived and got upset. Of course her friends called him insecure. He then asked CeLisa to leave because they had a big day in the morning and he didn’t think she should be there. She said that the guys had just taken their shirts off and she wasn’t leaving. Behavior like this is one of the reasons that Travis mentioned that they argued a lot.
So Travis left very upset. Add this to the fact that earlier CeLisa had mentioned “well we can get this annulled by 90 days” and you could already see where this was headed.
The next day was the wedding. Everything was beautiful. The priest asked if CeLisa was ready to go through with it, she said I do. Next he asked Travis. I could tell where this was going because he started talking about how much he loved her instead of just answering the question.
He ended by saying no, he was not going to marry her.
You could see some wedding guests were very excited about this. CeLisa ran off and cried.
The Moral of Hitched or Ditched
1. It doesn’t take 4 years to know if you are ready to marry someone. Not that you have to get married right away, but after 4 years you should know if that is what you want or not.
2. Despite people getting angry at when I say this, see, that’s what happens when you act inappropriately the night before your wedding. This is why I always say, stop with this act a fool before you get married madness.
