How Do I Write My Own Wedding Vows?
Q: Do you have some tips on writing your own wedding vows? I want to but I am not sure where to start.
A: First I’d say don’t think you have to use a certain format or include certain phrases. Your vows should be something personal and meaningful to you.
But if you aren’t a natural writer it might be hard to just sit down and spill your heart on paper so here are some tips.
Write down some of your favorite scriptures, quotes, and sayings.
Write down why you love your partner.
Write down what marriage and your commitment means to you.
Once you have that, it’s a great basis for starting to write your vows.
Here is an example, but keep in mind that yours don’t have to be this way. They can be as long or as short as you want them.
I [name] take you [name] to be my [add something sweet]. I promise to [what do you promise] for all the days of our lives. I give you my hand and my heart and [something sweet and romantic]. This is my solemn vow.
