Wedding in a Recession

Posted by Diva on December 3rd, 2008

Q: I’m trying to save money on my wedding and I was told that you were the person to ask. Where can I cut costs without looking tacky?

A: Here’s a bit of advice I’ve given previously.

How Can I Cut Down on Costs?

I Can’t Afford To Get Married

Cheap Wedding Invitations

As for some 2008-2009 advice; now is not the time to go into debt over a wedding…not that it ever was a good time.

I know ladies have these pretty princess fantasies but you can still have something nice without breaking the bank. Your wedding is about sharing your vows with the people you love, it shouldn’t be about who you can impress with free alcohol, expensive decorations, and ice sculptures.

If you keep it simple, you can keep it classy. Umm just don’t start charging people at the door because that’s tacky. No ATM machines ok?

I think even without the ressession that people should be looking at a wedding for what it is stands for, not outdoing a friend etc and inviting people that actually don’t mean all that much to you. Keep it small and intimate with just close friend and family and stay away from all the naf tack that seems to be at every wedding these ays.

What a great post, full of good information especially for this time. Thanks!

Hi

I run a fashion label that does cocktail and wedding dresses. Not only are the dresses just right for a glamorous wedding, after the honeymoon they are versatile enough for a chic party.

Dresses consist of elegant styles in natural silks brides can wear again after their big day, prices start from £550 for wedding dresses, £225 for cocktail dresses and delivery is within 5 weeks, all made in the UK – its proving to be a winning formula in these recessionary times. Natural silks are kinder to the environment as they have not gone through a dyeing process.

I also offer a service to brides who would love to transform their dress into a chic dress!
