Question From The Forums: I know there are one million web sites out there devoted to wedding showers, but I’d rather just ask. Has anyone had a shower that didn’t revolve around gifts? I feel so weird opening up presents in a room full of people.

A: Since I am planning a party for this summer the first thing that pops into my mind is to have a murder mystery party. I know that it sounds a little off for something wedding related but some companies have great themed mystery parties that would work well for ladies. Some are even for ladies only (think chocolate mystery)

The best thing about having one of these parties is that you get to dress up and buy cute decorations and favors. Of course you could keep the decorations and favors wedding related even if the mystery wasn’t.

For instance look at these cute bridesmaid dress sachets. They’d make great favors for your bridesmaids especially if you get them to match the actual colors of your dresses.

Then you could have other bridal shower favors for whoever guesses the solution to the mystery, and some parting trinkets for everyone.

Add a few good snacks and some beverages and no one would even be thinking about you opening gifts.
