I’m Stressed and I Want to Say Forget It!

Posted by Diva on March 12th, 2008

Q: This wedding thing is way too stressful! What do you do when everything is going wrong, everyone is getting on my nerves, and I just want to yell out FORGET IT!

A: I know how you feel, and even though I tried to avoid this “wedding stress plague”, by keeping things simple it didn’t work because things will always get as stressful as you allow them to become.

You didn’t say why you were stressed so I can only give general advice. That would be to always focus on the marriage, and not the wedding. Look at the wedding as a celebration of your love, and a declaration of your commitment- and nothing more.

It’s not a chance to show off, it’s not a chance to prove how pretty you can decorate reception tables, it’s not a time to argue with friends over hairstyles, etc., etc., etc,

When it’s all said and done, 5, 10, 24, 36 months later you’ll be married and all that other stuff won’t really matter. If you don’t take the time NOW to make sure you have prepared yourself for marriage, then all that wedding work will have gone to waste.
