I’m not talking about Steve Martin & Diane Keaton. If you are in the mood for a little wedding humor then you need to take it back a few decades to Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor.

This summer when I watched Father of the Bride I was in the process of planning my wedding and the movie was absolutely hilarious. I attribute that to the fact that I completely related to what was going on. I watched it again on Thanksgiving and it wasn’t quite as funny, but I really enjoyed it, and my husband did too.

My family and I did most of the planning so it was nice watching it with my husband because he got a taste of my reality:

father-of-the-bride.jpg- They had guest list problems back in the 50’s. Let me tell you, I tried not to be a Bridezilla but this was the one topic that had me boiling.

-Silly arguments right before weddings are common. Elizabeth Taylor plays the daughter who is getting married when suddenly she calls the wedding off. You think that her fiance has cheated on her but you soon learn that the reason for calling it off is not even close to that.

This movie was colorized but I heard the color detracts from the movie and it’s better in black and white. So if you are planning a wedding during this crazy holiday season then just take a break, grab a copy of the movie, and laugh at all the silliness we go through just for the sake of a wedding.

This movie is classic. Even the men like it which is surprising.
