I never imagined having a church wedding. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, I just never envisioned myself having one. It all started back in 1995 when that Family Matters episode aired when Laura was proposed to at Disney World. Then I knew it, I had to get married at Disney World. As time progressed I held on to that notion, but I also kept my eyes open for different options.

  • Disney Weddings: This was hands down my first choice. But it can get expensive even if you try to keep it small. Plus (as expected) the prices drastically increase every year. I’m not getting married here, but I might eventually do a vow renewal .
  • Blue Ridge: My next idea was to just keep it simple. I didn’t want to do a wedding chapel because some of them tend to remind me of funeral homes; so I did some research and found this place. I was amazed at the beautiful locations and the affordable options. I was ready to sign the contract and send in the deposit but then I thought, why not get married….
  • On a Cruise: Why not wrap the wedding and honeymoon into one? Then I remembered that cruises + hurricane season might pull at my worried Bridezilla strings so I skipped that and moved on to an idea that both my family and I could agree on and that was…
  • On a Riverboat: So that’s where it will be. We rented a boat out for one evening so we’ll have the wedding and reception all in the same place. The only issue is (as I mentioned earlier this week) I’ll only get to wear my dress for about four hours.
