As a wedding photographer we have photographed "trash the dress" sessions where women have burned, cut up, or drowned their dresses. I think that will be fantastic. :) But donating the dress is a great idea, a lot of place require you have the dress cleaned first though - just FYI. There is also the option of selling the dress, maybe on ebay. Try to recoup a little of your expenses, you know?
